For years I thought the chest tightness, the overt For years I thought the chest tightness, the overthinking, the irritability that was just who I was. It wasn't. It was a dysregulated nervous system and once I understood that, everything changed.

Technique 1 — 4-7-8 Breath : Inhale for four, hold for seven, exhale for eight. The long exhale activates your vagus nerve which is your body's actual calm switch.

Technique 2 — Cold Water:  Cold water on your face and wrists. It sounds almost too simple but it triggers the dive reflex. Your heart rate drops within seconds and your brain gets the message: we're safe.

Technique 3 — 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding : Name five things you see, four you can hear, three you can touch, two you smell, one you taste. This pulls you out of the spiral and back into your body fast.

5 micro-habits that quietly changed everything for 5 micro-habits that quietly changed everything for me.

1.I stopped looking at my phone for the first 10 minutes of the day : The first thing I used to do was grab my phone. 
I didn't even realize how much that was already deciding my mood for the whole day. Now, 10 minutes of just me, before the world comes in.

2. I write one honest sentence in my journal every single morning: Not a whole page. Not a perfectly structured entry. Just one true sentence about how I actually felt. 
That one sentence became the most honest relationship I've ever had with myself.

3. I take 3 deep breaths before reacting to anything hard: This one sounds too simple to matter. It's not. 
Three breaths before I replied to that text or email, before that difficult conversation, before I spiraled over a comment. 

It created a tiny pause, and in that pause, I got to choose who I wanted to be.

4. I end every day by naming one thing I was proud of: Not a highlight reel or productivity wins. 

Sometimes it can be as simple as , I asked for help today or I cried and kept going, I chose rest instead of hustle. 
One small thing every night. 
That changed how I saw myself.

5. I started talking to myself the way I'd talk to someone I love: This was the hardest one. 

I didn't even notice how cruel my inner voice was. I'd say things to myself I'd never say to a friend. 

So I started catching it and gently, imperfectly, replacing it. That shift alone changed everything.
