Hola Beauties! We know that building a skincare routine that matches our needs and skin problems is the base for healthy skin. In this guide, we will review 6 steps on How to build a good skincare routine that will give results.
The idea of this guide is to help you understand the essential points when you are building your skincare routine. We will not see the skincare steps ( Ex, cleanser, moisturizer, etc.); I have another article where you can see this in detail; the main focus here is to explore what you need to know before buying and creating your skincare routine.
Okay, let’s jump to the guide.

This post is about How to Build a Good Skincare Routine.
1. Understand your skincare ingredients
It is essential that before buying a product, you understand what the ingredients are and, most importantly, the benefits. Remember that skincare is personal, and you need to know what your needs are and what works for you. Do not buy a product just because it is popular. first, validate the components and what you are looking for in your routine, and if it matches your needs, then go for it.
Another important point to mention when evaluating a product and the ingredients, try to see the % of the active ingredient. If the % is low, then you might not even see results, and if the % is too high, you need to validate if this can cause a skin reaction.
Find a balance between what works best for you, your skin type, and skin sensitivity.
2. Test skincare products before application
Always test your skincare product before applying it to your skin; even if you don’t have sensitive skin, you never know what can cause a bad reaction and damage your barrier.
I remember a long time ago, I bought the product Proactive, and I had not tested it before. I had the worst skin reaction; my skin turned red and itchy, and I was in so much pain, so do not make the same mistake. Fortunately, my reaction was gone after a few days, and I didn’t have permanent damage, but sometimes that is not the case.
Test your products in your arm and see if you get a reaction that way; you are sure your face will be safe.
3. Simplicity is the key
You do not need a 12-step skincare to see results; a 12-step routine can be as effective as a 4-step one. Overlaying too many ingredients can irritate you if you do not understand how they react to each other or do not produce results if you mix too many products without understanding the components.
For example, my skincare routine has 5 steps because I only use the ingredients I need for my skin type and my needs (Anti-aging); I do not follow a 12 or even more skincare routine because it is unnecessary.
4. Consistency
You have probably heard this a million times, but it is true; you must be consistent to see results. It would be best if you built good habits to see the results you want long term; applying your products once a week is not going to provide changes.
Make time for your routine, morning and night, and stay consistent.
5. Be patience
Skincare results take time; I know we want to see immediate changes in our skin, but the reality is that most results take around 4 weeks, and other cases like deep wringles and hyperpigmentation up to 12, so don’t get discouraged because your dont see the results you want right away, trust me I have been there. Still, I learned that all good things take time and effort.
6. This is YOUR skincare journey
Skincare is personal; the product that worked amazing for me might not work for you, or vice-versa; something that you love might cause me irritation, so you need to keep that in mind. Build your skincare routine according to YOUR needs, not what influencers or people love; maybe a viral product worked for you, but that is not always the case.
Remember that this is your journey and your skin; learn about your skin type, what your triggers are, what ingredients work best for you, and your concerns and problems, and build a good skincare routine.
Okay Beauties, I hope these 6 steps on How to build a good skincare routine were helpful for your skincare plan.
